2022 provisional calendar released

The Australian International Pedal Prix at Murray Bridge is slated to return in 2022.

The provisional calendar for the 2022 UniSA Australian Human Powered Vehicle Super Series has been released.

After a disappointing end to 2021 with three rounds cancelled due to COVID, the anticipation of  a full calendar of events is palpable.

The season once again is slated to get underway in the South East of SA in Mount Gambier. The smooth and wide flowing circuit of McNamara Park has hosted the opening round for several years now and is an ideal self contained venue. Round 2 is currently to be confirmed with a number of options still under consideration. Victoria Park is penciled in for Round 3 on 17-19 June, a three day format as per 2021 anticipated. The Series looks set to return to The Bend Motorsport Park on Sunday July 31, the facility getting it’s first taste of HPV racing this year and proving quite an experience. Busselton is once again on the provisional calendar, having been cancelled for the last two years in succession due to COVID. To see the foreshore track back in action will be warmly welcomed. The season finale is again set for Sturt Reserve at Murray Bridge. The jewel in the crown, the Australian International Pedal Prix is a favourite of the teams.

“The release of the Provisional Calendar is an important milestone as we prepare to go racing again in 2022. It’s been far too long since we have been able to hold events and go racing. That’s what we’re here for, that’s what we intend to do,” stated UniSA AHPVSS CEO Marcus Lacey.  “The Provisional Calendar seeks to outline a realistic set of events, and is bookended by Mt Gambier and Murray Bridge, with Adelaide’s Victoria Park in the middle. A return to Tailem Bend and the Bend Motorsport Park in 2022 and the return of Busselton is an excellent outcome. There are several options for Round 2, and we hope to be able to announce a decision on this in due course. Overall, we would say this is a very pleasing provisional calendar after having two year’s rocked by the ever uncertain COVID dominated world. The provisional calendar is subject to change, but we look forward to finalising details over coming weeks. Reports continue to be positive that the ongoing vaccine roll out is on track to provide a degree of stability for 2022, although we expect there will be several important event management, and health and safety, factors to be considered,” he added.
