Andrew McLachlan has announced his resignation from the positions of Chairman and CEO of Australian International Pedal Prix Inc. effective immediately. He handed his notice to the Board of the organisation at a meeting last night.
He will continue in a consultant role through to the end of November this year to assist with the transition and ensure a smooth handover.
Marcus Lacey will move into both positions in an acting capacity while a transition plan is finalised.
McLachlan has had an association with AIPP spanning twenty six years, nineteen of those as CEO and Chairman. During this time, he has overseen the delivery of seventy two events, as well as major developments in the sport of Human Powered Vehicle racing including the ratification of a national rule set and the creation and expansion of the UniSA Australian HPV Super series from one event to the current format of six rounds.
“I have enjoyed my time in the role and I take with me many happy memories of time spent with the wonderful community at all levels who embrace our sport, and whose passion and enthusiasm have made it what it is today.”
While the impact of COVID over the course of the past two seasons has been significant, the roll out of the vaccine across Australia is now making progress. As such, prospects for season 2022 look most promising with a return to a full calendar of HPV racing and events.
“The minimisation of the impact of COVID is a significant factor moving forward and I look forward to assisting the transition which will be competently led by Marcus in preparation for 2022. I wish the organisation well in its future endeavours,” McLachlan concluded.
