racing set to resume

The UniSA Australian HPV Super Series, the world’s largest HPV racing series, is set to resume in 2020.

Unfortunately, Round 5, the Busselton 6hr originally scheduled for the weekend of 15/16 August has been cancelled. However, Round 4, the Adelaide 6hr, to be held at Victoria Park, has now been slated to move to that vacated weekend.

“The Board of the UniSA Australian HPV Super Series is sees an opportunity to potentially resume competition in 2020,” confirmed Chairman Andrew McLachlan. “We have tried constantly over the course of the year to look at ways of running our Series. It has been exceedingly difficult to confirm anything in the limited and ever changing environment. However, with the most recent easing of restrictions, and after consultation with government authorities, the opportunity to take to the track may be able to be confirmed, subject to final approvals.”

The news provides hope there can be two rounds held this year, with the Australian International Pedal Prix, an event attracting tens of thousands over the three day weekend in September, currently under consideration.

“While we are disappointed to have cancelled races to date, and it is a great shame to lose Busselton for 2020, our priority has always been the safety of our community. These new arrangements allow us to get back on the track and look after the health and wellbeing of our competitors, families, and supporters” said McLachlan.

More information will be provided over coming days as details become available. It is expected there will be some new guidelines and modifications to the way the event will be conducted, however it is hoped the racing format can be similar to 2019.
