top 14 shootout
Grid positions for the 24hr Australian International Pedal Prix (AIPP) will be determined from the qualifying/practice session held on Friday 22nd (Category 1-2, 4:30-6:00pm & Category 3-4, 6:05pm – 7:35pm). The fastest lap set by each team in the practice session will determine their grid position. The fastest lap time will be in position 1 with each consecutively slower time placed in the next highest grid position. Teams not taking part in practice will be placed at the rear of the grid, in numerical order regardless of category (as per the Event Manual p.10).
Since its inception in 2003 the Shoot Out has been a great element of the AIPP. Due to changing categories, there have been a number of changes to the format of this year’s shootout. The results from the shootout will not affect grid positions for the start of the 2017 AIPP at noon on September 23. Fourteen (14) teams from across all categories will be given the opportunity to test their riders and vehicles in a 1 lap shootout (similar to previous years). The qualifying teams for the shootout will be:
Category 1 (School & Community combined) – fastest 2 teams
Category 1 (School & Community combined, all female) – fastest 1 team
Category 2 (School & Community combined) – fastest 2 teams
Category 2 (School & Community combined, all female) – fastest 1 team
Category 3 (School & Community combined) – fastest 2 teams
Category 3 (School & Community combined, all female) – fastest 1 team
Category 4 (Community) – fastest 3 teams
Category 4 (Community All Female) – fastest 1 team
Category 4 (Community Masters) – fastest 1 team
= 14 teams
