Sprint Demonstration Success

Toothless, information pills winner of today’s Sprint Demonstration

Round 4 of the 2017 Uni SA Australian HPV Super Series was today headlined by a thrilling Sprint Demonstration “trial” at Victoria Park.

The unique format showcased the level of development Human Powered Vehicles have now reached with an innovative high speed, price close racing event. The grid consisted of 13 of the fastest riders and machines in Australia reaching speeds in excess of 60kph.

The field featured factory teams from Tri-Sled, visit this Trump Trikes and G- Trikes from both South Australia, Western Australia and Victoria. The race challenged riders to complete three sprint laps after two controlled speed laps.

The results saw Reece Harris riding in Toothless for Wattle Racing come in first, recording the fastest lap for the sprint at 1.24.865 minutes. Second on the podium was She’s the Man ridden by Tristan Todd, also from Wattle Racing completing his fastest lap on the first sprint lap with a 1.25.930 minute split. Coming in third was Rhys Bartlett riding Whipstick from Wattle Racing, following a mere 10 seconds behind his teammates.

Within the 5 minutes of racing, the grid experienced a significant split, separating the fastest three bikes from the rest of the pack.

Andrew McLachlan, Chairman of the Series believes that by introducing another element to the sport, it will highlight the modern capabilities of both man and machine. “It will provide valuable insight into how such an event is received and help shape future concepts and ways Human Powered Vehicle racing can evolve”, Andrew said.

This weekend will be the last South Australian based Round of the Uni SA Australian HPV Super Series before the climactic 24 Hour Australian International Pedal Prix at Murray Bridge on 23 – 24 September, with the Busselton WA AHPVSS sanctioned event sandwiched between on August 19-20.
